Buddha beads, also known as Buddhist prayer beads or malas, are commonly used in Chinese Buddhist culture as a tool for counting mantras and prayers during meditation or chanting. They consist of a string of 108 beads (sometimes 27 or 54 beads in smaller versions) made of materials such as wood, stone, or bone.

The number 108 is considered a sacred number in Buddhism and is believed to represent the 108 human passions that one must overcome to achieve enlightenment. Each bead represents a mantra or prayer, and the practitioner recites the mantra while moving their fingers along the beads, one at a time, until they have completed the entire string.

Buddha beads are also considered a symbol of Buddhist faith and are often worn as a necklace or bracelet by believers. They are believed to bring peace, protection, and spiritual energy to the wearer.

In addition to their spiritual significance, Buddha beads are also used as decorative objects in Chinese culture. They are often strung together to create colorful and intricate designs, and are commonly used in home decor or as fashion accessories.

Silver Jewelry Maintenance Tips

  • The best way to maintain silver jewelry is to wear it regularly.
  • Avoid exposing it to seawater, hot springs, and sulfur soap.
  • If it turns black or yellow due to oxidation, the easiest way to clean it is to use a toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • Traditional methods such as using a silver polishing cloth or a silver polishing stick can also restore it.
  • When not wearing it, wipe it dry with a cotton cloth or tissue, and store it in a sealed bag to isolate it from the air.
  • For most people, wearing silver jewelry makes it increasingly shiny, but for a few people, it may turn black, which is a normal reaction.
